Prahlad Friedman Wins WPT Legends of Poker
August 27th, 2009
Here’s the challenge I’m faced with: how do I blog about Prahlad Friedman winning the 2009 World Poker Tour (WPT) Legends of Poker without mentioning his infamous rap. I’ve stared this challenge right in the eyes and realized that I can not possibly over come it, so I’ve embedded the damn thing above. Good lord, it’s painful to watch.
Anyway, Prahlad Friedman took down the $10K buy-in event for just over $1,000,000. Interestingly, Friedman was heads-up with the November Nine member, Ken Schaffel who entered the final table as chip leader.
Heads-up saw a final hand after Schaffel opened preflop with a 300,000 chip raise and Friedman reraised to 800,000. Schaffel then pushed all-in and after a while in the tank, Friedman called with Ah-Qs while Schaffel showed Kh-Jc.
The board rolled out: 10c-3h-2h-4d-9h and Friedman won his first WPT bracelet. Schaffel was consoled by the $471,670 he earned as well as the seat waiting for him at the 2009 WSOP Main Event final table.
