Ugly Betty Cancelled
January 27th, 2010
Some tragic news from the world of TV today. ABC made the shocking announcement this morning: Ugly Betty cancelled. After the end of this, the fourth season, the former hit show that made a star out of its lead, America Ferrera, will be no more.
Now, you can be forgiven for asking the question – Yeah but didn’t it get cancelled years ago? And the answer to that, apparently, is no it didn’t. Which leads to another question – who the hell was watching this thing?
Sure, it was unique for the first episode or two because, with the exception of Jay Leno, the networks so rarely put authentically ugly people on TV. But then we found out that Ferrera isn’t really all that ugly in real life. And that removed the only tiny reason one would have for watching the show.
So for those seven fans of the show out there, your last chance to watch Ugly Betty before it’s cancelled, is March 26th. And for the rest of us, we can be pleased with the idea that ABC will undoubtedly be replacing it with something awesome involving a high-school full of young, sexy vampires or, perhaps, a new and inspiring reality show where they take a homeless guy and give him a job running a Wall Street investment firm.
